We're counting down the days to the 2013 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards with fun facts and features every day!
The always funny—and always unpredictable—Jackie Hoffman was on hand to accept all awards in absentia at the 2012 Audience Choice Awards, and the shocking funny lady didn’t hold back! Here are some of her most outrageous jokes from the ceremony.
In character as Patti LuPone:
“I remember when I was a young girl at Juilliard,
sleeping with Kevin Kline, and I dreamed I would be getting awards like this.
Then, Andrew Lloyd Weber f***ed me over and I got a swimming pool!
But who’s laughing now, Andrew? Hahaha!”
“I’m so sorry I’m not in Godspell; it’s two of my favorite things,
the New Testament and clowns.”
In character as Alan Rickman:
“When I’m not being a bad guy in Harry Potter films, or dumping
Emma Thompson in Love, Actually, I’m just a normal guy who stages
pro-Palestinian plays, which ticks off Jackie Hoffman to no end.”
“Drive safely and reclaim the West Bank!”
In character as Jeremy Jordan:
“I’m Jeremy Jordan, and I’m currently onstage in Newsies, right now.
And I mean literally right now, because someone at Broadway.com
doesn’t know how a calendar works.”
The 2013 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards will be held on Sunday, May 5 at The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in the Time Warner Center in New York City.
